How to Smoke a Turkey Breast on a Pellet Grill?

Smoked turkey breast is a good and a delicious option for various occasions such thanksgiving, family dinners or any other event you plan such as lunch or normal dinner. Seasoning Ingredients

Usually there are various kinds of flavor mixes available in the market to season your meat but if you want to create one of your own then it is also not a problem. You need to grab certain ingredients such as for 5-7 pounds of turkey you would need following ingredients:

9 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 2 garlic cloves (nicely minced), thyme leaves, oregano leaves, rosemary leaves and sage leaves. Further 2 teaspoons of Dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon of kosher salt, ½ of freshly grinded black pepper, ½ teaspoon of red pepper flakes and lastly 2 cups of apple juice or cider. You can also use any other juice too. Before you season it with any herb you need to brine your turkey breast first and for that you’ll need 3 quarts of cold water, ½ cup of kosher salt and ½ cup of white sugar.

How to do Seasoning

Step 1: For brining the meat take a large container and add water, salt and sugar in it. Stir it until the salt and sugar dissolves completely. After that place the turkey breast in that water and if needed then add more water and put it in the refrigerator for 8-12 hours.

Step 2: Remove the turkey 45 minutes before cooking and dry it well.

Step 3: Take a small bowl and mix butter, minced garlic, oregano, thyme, rosemary, sage, mustard, salt, pepper and red pepper flakes together.

Step 4: If your meat is with skin then carefully lift the skin with your two fingers and spread 3 tablespoons of herb butter under the skin and remaining tablespoons of herb butter on the out layer of the breast.

How to Cook on Pellet Grill

To smoke it with a pallet grill is an easy part. The pallet grills are operated on wooden pallets that you place in its hopper which is attached right next to the grill. Based on your temperature setting the grill itself takes the pallet supply from the hopper and maintains the temperature.

Step 1: Plug in and start the pallet grill after you’ve put the pallets of your choice in the hopper. Wait till the temperature raises up to the desired level and the grill stops producing the thick white smoke.

Step 2: Temperature for cooking turkey breast is around 325 Fahrenheit. You can also cook it slow on 225-250 Fahrenheit too. Once the desired temperature is achieved then place the meat on the grill.

Step 3: Close the chamber of grill and smoke it for around 15 minutes per pound of meat.

Step 4: Check with instant read thermometer if your turkey breast is fully cooked. Once the internal temperature hits 165 Fahrenheit on instant read thermometer than it means your turkey breast is ready to be served.

Let the meat rest for 15-30 minutes before serving. This time would help meat retain its juice and won’t let it drain which is usually result of instant slicing once cooked. A good smoked turkey breast you desire for is ready now to be served.
